a) The explanatory variable is the age of the vehicle. The response variable is fuel efficiency. In other words, fuel efficiency is dependent on many parameters, including age of a vehicle.
b) Sample Mean: (12.0 + 14.8)/2 = 26.8/2 = 13.4
The sample mean is the center of the confidence interval. Assume that this is a confidence interval for the true population mean.
