The slope of y = 2x is 2.
The slope of the parallel line is also 2
Start with point-slope form.
(y - 5) = 2(x - 2)

Need help in Math or Physics?? Expert High School and College tutor.
Given two points in 2D space or z=0
A = (x1,y1) = (2,5)
y(x) = 2x -----> slope m = 2
To have a function parallel to y(x) must have same slope
POINT SLOPE FORM
(y-y1) = m(x-x1)
y-5 = 2(x-2) = 2x -4
y = 2x +1
