A person sees a boat on the horizon, but this character still decides to stay on the island by themselves.

1. Explain and defend their decision to stay. (use some personality theory to help justify the decision the character made. 2-3 personality traits from the "Big Five".)
2. Critique society and the influences of "other people" using socialization and any two other theories.
3. Use the theories to talk about the importance of "other people" and how you don't want to be controlled or influenced by them.
4. Include the terminology of socialization: Norms, Primary/Secondary, Latent/Manifest, etc...
5. Explain the effect of isolation on individuals, and outline a plan to combat it.

Consider the wisdom emanating from Thoreau, personality traits before the "Big" personality traits.

Why does one need the boat on the horizon s/he thinks s/he sees?

Thoreau advises finding one's own dreams and directions within oneself, as

he enunciates "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined."

The island within oneself stands out. All five traits inhabit this island.
