Hello Kimani! To find C, since C is squared, you want to apply an exponent of 1/2 (because 1/2 is the reciprocal of 2) on BOTH sides to ensure that C is isolated. Remember that exponent to the exponent can be multiplied. For example, (a ^ b) ^ c = a ^ (b * c).
( 18 ^ 2 + 80 ^ 2 ) ^ (1/2) = ( C ^ 2 ) ^ (1/2) = C ^ 1
( 18 ^ 2 + 80 ^ 2 ) ^ (1/2) = (324 + 6400) ^ (1/2) = (6724) ^ (1/2) = 82 = C <<<<<<<< (ANSWER)
