Apologize about that. If I take a rectangular prism with dimensions of 2 * 4* 3 . The volume is 24. If I double by a scale of 2 then it becomes 4 *8* 6 and the volume is 192 which is 8 times or 2^3 because we are multiplying 3 dimensions doubled. For the surface area on the first dimensions I got 52. Multiplying each face twice. For the scale of 2 doing the same thing I got a surface area of 208 which is 4 times 52 or 2^2.
