Hi Anson,
the perimeter would increase by a factor of 3 as perimeter is linear. However the area would increase by a factor of 9 because area of a triangle is 1/2 b h and we are using the factor of 3 which we would then square.

Apologize about that. If I take a rectangular prism with dimensions of 2 * 4* 3 . The volume is 24. If I double by a scale of 2 then it becomes 4 *8* 6
and the volume is 192 which is 8 times or 2^3 because we are multiplying 3 dimensions doubled.
For the surface area on the first dimensions I got 52. Multiplying each face twice. For the scale of 2 doing the same thing I got a surface area of 208 which is 4 times 52 or 2^2.
