When there are two lines intersect each other like your picture above;

Angle w and y are called vertically opposite and have the same value. This means w = y = 55 degrees

Angle x and z are also vertically opposite so x = z

Angle y and x lie on one straight line (straight line always 180 degrees), so

y + x = 180

55 + x = 180

x = 180 - 55

x = 125

x = z = 125

y + z = 180

z=180-y

z=180-55
