Cylinder circumscribed about cube

A cylinder is circumscribed about a cube. If the edge of the cube is 3inch long, find the volume and total area of the cylinder.

Answer 1

By the sound of it; the cylinder has a rad of 1.5; and h=3.

So r^2pi*h=volume.

Area=2*r^2pi+d*pi*h

Answer 2

If the edge is 3 cm then the radius of the sphere is 1.5 cm.

Use this value in the two formulas.
