Math and computer tutor/teacher
Area = (1/2) height ( bottom + top)
30 = (1/2)(3) ( 8 + x)
60 = 3(8 + x) <--- multiplies by 2 to kill the fraction
20 = 8 + x <--- divides by 3
x = 12 <--- subtracts 8
the missing base (bottom) is 12
