Let x = the amount of 70% solution
(100-x) = the amount of the 40% solution
(.7x + .4(100-x))/100 = .52
.7x + 40 -.4x = 52 (multiply both sides by 100
.3x = 12 (combine like terms
x = 40 (divide by .3 on both sides
so we need 40 g of the 70% solution
and we need 60 g of the 40% solution
