In standard form, the equation is
2x2 - 4x - (c + 6) = 0
To have only one solution, the discriminant must be zero.
D = (-4)2 - 4(2)[-(c + 6)] = 0
16 + 8(c + 6) = 0
c = -16/8 - 6 = -8
c = -8
