The line parallel to y = (-0.75)x and passes through (8,0)
Parallel lines have identical slopes. The slope of the original line is m = -0.75 because it is in y=mx+b form where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Thus, the new line has a slope of -0.75 and passes through (8,0). This is the perfect time to use point-slope form because we have a point and a slope.
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Where
(x1, y1) is the point the line passes
m is the slope
Once we plug in our point and slope values, we get
y - 0 = -0.75(x - 8)
y = -0.75x + 6
