big bird made some delicious banana bread. the top was sprinkled with toasted bird seed-yum! cookie monster visited big bird and ate 1/3 of a loaf of bread.

how do i figure out how much bread is left after he eats 1/3 of the loaf?

Think that the loaf was cut into three pieces. Each piece is 1/3 of the loaf. If CM ate one of them, two remain.

So 2/3 remain.

 

1 = 3/3

3/3 - 1/3 = 2/3
