Are you asking what happens to the area of the polygon if the apothem is tripled ?
If so,....
A=a^2*n*tan(180/n) is the formula for the area of a regular polygon given the apothem, a, where n is the number of sides.
triple the apothem
A=(3a)^2*n*tan(180/n)
A=9a^2*n*tan(180/n)
you can see that the area is now 9 times the original area
