A group is creating a design that is similar to the flag of Switzerland. In the design, the area of the white cross is 20% of the area of the square flag. Five white squares form the cross in the middle of the flag. What is the length of side of one of the squares? We also know that the top of the flag (not the smaller squares in the middle) is 10 inches long

the area of the 5 squares is 2h

the area of each square is (2/5) h

the side of the square is sqrt ( (2/5)h )

= sqrt ( 10/25 h)
