A group of 120 students went on a summer field trip. One third of the 120 went hiking. Two tenths of the 120 took a bus tour. All the rest went swimming. How many students went swimming?

There are a total of 120 students. Hiking = 1/3 ..... Bus tour = 2/10 .... How many went swimming?

 

1/3*120

1/3*120/1 = 40 students went hiking

 

120 - 40 = 80 students remain

 

2/10*80 = 10 students went on a bus tour

 

120-50 = 70 students remain

 

70 students went swimming

 

40+10+70 = 120 the total number of students
