In this problem you know the area and the relationship between the length and width.
The area is 81 sqm. The length is 9 times its width.
So let us set A = 81. and L = 9W
The area of a rectangle is length times width A = LW
we know that L = 9W
Substitute and solve by steps:
A = (9W)(W)
81 = (9W)(W)
81 = 9(W)^2 divide by 9
9 = w^2 take sqrt
3 = W and 9W = L 9(3) = L
27 = L
test the result 3 * 27 = 81
