The phases of matter commonly studied in chemistry are solids, liquids and gases.
Gases would be the phase that exhibits some regular behaviors that are independent of the identity of the gas.
For example, the volume of 1 mole of any gas is the same at a given temperature and pressure. It doesn't matter what the identity of the gas is.
