A garden table and a bench cost $859

 combined. The garden table costs $41

 less than the bench. What is the cost of the bench?

let cost of bench = x

so cost of garden table = x-41

x+ (x-41) = 859

2x - 41 = 859

2x = 859+41

2x = 900

x = 450

Hence cost of bench = 450
