Hi, Ashley!
Have you ever heard of the phrase HOY VUX? HOY tells us that lines that are horizontal also have a slope of 0 and are written as y=#. VUX tells us that lines that are vertical also have an undefined slope and are written as x=#. Any lines written y=# are parallel and any lines written x=# are parallel. Horizontal and vertical lines are perpendicular to each other (hit at a 90 degree angle), so a line written x=5 will be perpendicular to any equation written y=#, such as y=5 or y=7.
Hope that helps! Feel free to reach out with any other questions, etc. Thanks!
Katie
