Write the balanced equation for the reaction taking place:
Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) ==> ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g)
The mole ratio is 2:1 for HCl : Zn so it takes twice as many moles of HCl as Zn.
Are there twice as many moles of HCl? 4.3 moles Zn x 2 mole HCl/mole Zn = 8.6 moles HCl needed
NOT ENOUGH MOLES OF HCl. Therefore HCl is limiting.
