frank and marie set sail from the same point. frank is sailing in the direction S 8 degrees E. Marie is sailing in the direction S 14 degrees W. After 6 hours, Marie was 5 miles due west to frank. How far had marie sailed? (hint: law of sines)

The due south line forms 2 right triangles with the line between Marie and Frank.

In Frank's triangle the angles are 8 and 82 degrees respectively.

In Marie's triangle the angles are 14 and 76 degrees respectively.

The law of sines gives M/sin 82 = 5/sin 22.
