The length is denoted by the equation L = 3W - 8.and the width is denoted by the variable W.
One side of the rectangle is of length W. The side opposite of this is also of length W. The long side of the rectangle which is the length is 3W-8. And the side opposite of this is also 3W-8. The perimeter is found by adding up all the sides/lengths of the rectangle so this is
W + 3W-8 + W + 3W-8=88. Solving this algebraically we get:
8W-16=88
8W=72
W=9 The width is 9 units long and the length is found by 3(9)-8 which is 19
therefore the dimensions of the rectangle are 9 by 19.
