area of shaded region is as follows : the area of entire large rectangle minus the area of the smaller rectangle...
Z x W - Y x X = area of shaded region
Area of large rectangle (length x width) is Z x W = 19 x 16 = 304 inches
Area of small rectangle (length x width) is Y x X = 10 x 8 = 80 inches
Area of shaded region is 304 - 80 inches = 224 inches
