Find the perimeter and area of rectangle EFGH.

Since this is a rectangle, we need to find the distance of 2 sides in order to do perimeter and area calculations. The other 2 sides will be the same.

d²=(x2−x1)²+(y2-y1)²

d=√(x2−x1)²+(y2-y1)²

We will need to use this formula twice for

(-5,-1) and (-3,5) OR (4,-4) and (6,2)

d=√(-3−(-5))²+(5-(-1))²

d=√(2)²+(6)²

d=√4+36

d=√40

d=2√10

(-3,5) and (6,2) OR (-5,-1) and (4,-4)

d=√(2−5)²+(6-(-3))²

d=√(-3)²+(9)²

d=√9+81

d=√90

d=3√10

area = length x width

area = (2√10)(3√10) = 60 units²

perimeter = side 1 + side 2 + side 3 + side 4

perimeter = 2√10+2√10+3√10+3√10 = 10√10 units
