The policy of appeasement was the policy followed by England's prime minister Neville Chamberlain. After the Munich conference Germany was able to annex the Sudetenland with the assent of Italy and France.
The policy encouraged Hitler to eventually annex all of Czechoslovakia, while making demands on his other neighbors, particularly Poland.
The policy created an important steppingstone to World War II.
