High school $55/hr; college $75/hr, minimum of 2 hours per session; 2 hours in advance cancellation time required.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a social science major at New York University I took many courses in anthropology. As a teacher of history and social studies I have used anthropological data and information in many of my classes.

Climate, topography and the effect of geography on society and people is an important subject. Political science, government and politics were my major in graduate school. I am quite familiar and experienced at teaching US government, comparative government, political systems and their relationship to day's world. I helped to create such programs as Model Congress, taught Advanced Placement US Government and Politics and Comparative government at a variety of schools. I can make these subjects easier to understand, and to master.
As a teacher of English literature in grades 8-college, I have taught a variety of works of literature. From contemporary fiction, to the great classics, Shakespeare to Dickens,Poe to Wadsworth I am able to bring a true understanding of the author's work.
I have taught Political Science and AP US History & US Government for over 20 years from grades 11 through college . In addition, I have a real-life and practical understanding of politics, having worked as consultant to political candidates from president down to the local level.
As the editor of two weekly newspapers, as well as a teacher of English I am quite experienced and familiar with proofreading.
