There are 2 ways to solve.
1. Plug in our info and solve for b.
y = mx + b
5 = (1/2)(2) + b
5 = 1 + b
b = 4
y = (1/2)x + 4
2. Use the formula.
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 5 = (1/2)(x - 2)
y - 5 = (1/2)x - 1
y = (1/2)x + 4

asked 02/08/20Greetings,
I think the fraction is throwing me off but..
I have to write the equation of a line with a slope of m=1/2 that passes through the point of (2,5). Can anyone explain how I solve this?

Slope Intercept form of line
Y = mx + b
Where m is slope and b is y intercept
And ( x,y ) is given (2,5)
m = 1/ 2
So
5 = (1/2)2 +b
5= 1+ b
4= b
Equation of line
y = (1/2)x +4
