find the area of the given figure:
find the area of the given figure:
a rectangle is connected with a triangle, the top of the rectangle is 15cm, the left side is 9cm, the cm for the rectangle and the triangle is 27. on the triangle there a small line on the left and right line of the triangle, and a line going down the middle of the tri, and there is a squared corner on the left side on the line that is going down in the middle of the triangle

Here's what I am able to decipher so far....
Rectangle ABCD, going clockwise....
AD=BC=9; AB=CD=15
Triangle ABX on top of AB...
"there is a small line on the left and right of the triangle"
these are tick marks denoting that AX and BX are congruent, so
triangle ABX is isosceles.
THe height is dropped from X ... label the intersection of
the height and AB point M.
Then AM=MB = 7.5 and angles XAM and XBM are congruent base angles..
also XM is (h-9) where for height h
As you have pointed out, the problem is the 27, and what it represents.
Both of the equations for perimeter and area result in negative values for h...
Perimeter : 2[(h-9)^2 + 7.5^2] + 9 + 15 + 9 = 27
Area: (1/2)(15)(h-9) + 15*9 = 27
