The midpoint of a segment is the MIDDLE of the segment. Another way to describe the middle of something in math is by using the average. So to find our midpoint we find the average of the x and y values.
x midpoint = (x1 + x2) / 2
y midpoint = (y1 + y2) / 2
In this case we know one of the points and the midpoint but not the end point. We can plug in the points of the first point for x1 and y1 and plug in the midpoint for our x and y midpoint and then solve for x2 and y2
6 = (4 + x)/2 -2 = (5 + y) /2
*2 *2 *2 *2
12 = 4 + x -4 = 5 + y
-4 -4 -5 -5
8 = x -9 = y
So our endpoint is located at (8,-9). I hope this explanation was thorough and answered all of your questions. If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out! Learn on :)
