Let x mean the number of miles driven.
The cost of this drive with the Suave Car company is : 85 +0 .10x, because $85 is a flat fee you pay regardless of the miles driven, plus you have a fee per miles.
The cost of the same drive with the Travel Transport company is 70 +0 .15x.
The question now is that for what value of x will (85 +0.10x) be less than (70 +0.15x)
85 + 0.10x < 70 +0 .15x
85 + 0.10x- 0.15x < 70 + 0.15x - 0.15x
85 - 0.05x < 70
85 - 0.05x - 85 < 70 - 85
-0.05x < -15
x >-15/-0.05
x> 300
So if you drive more than 300 miles (301 miles or more) , the Suave Car will be cheaper than Travel Transport.
