j represents the speed of the jackal
2j represents the speed of the cheetah
j + 10 represents the speed of the Elk
j + 2j + j + 10 = 150
Can you solve for j and answer?
Arielle H.
asked 10/05/19The top running speed of a cheetah is twice the top running speed of a Jackal. The top running speed of an Elk is 10mph faster than of a Jackal. If each of these animals could run for an hour (which they can't!) They could run a combined distance of 150 miles. What is the top running speed of each animal?
Note- the distance an animal covers in an hour is equal to it's running speed X1 hour. For example, a horse galloping at 30mph travels 20 miles in an hour.
