ASSUMING the books have the same # of pages:

5/7 = 0.714285

3/5 = 0.6

so now you see who is further along, ASSUMING they are reading the same # of pages..

otherwise there is a problem!

Suppose for example that one book has 140 pages and the other has 200 pages

then they read 5/7*140 = 100 pages and 3/5*200 = 120 pages, so it is the opposite;
