mean=60 from 55 to 65 is all data within 1 standard deviation of the mean
standard deviation is 5 60-55=5 65-60=5. All data is plus or minus one standard
deviation from the mean
The 68-95-99 rule says 68% of the data falls within 1 standard deviation of the mean.
(95% fall within 2 standard deviations of the mean, 99% within 3 standard deviations from the mean)
Actually, 68.27% is more accurate, but rounded off to nearest percent it's 68%
Use a z-table to get more accurate solutions, or a scientific calculator with statistics keys
It's also known as the 68-95-99.7 rule. Nearly 100% of the data is within 3 standard deviations, or more precisely 99.7%
