We know that page numbers are consecutive. two consecutive numbers, mathematically are x and x+1.
So two facing page numbers = 89. x + x + 1 = 89. 2x + 1 = 89
subtracting one from each, 2x = 88
divide by 2 x = 44
the facing page, x + 1 = 45.
Two page numbers, 44 and 45 are facing each other and add up to 89.
Of course, the left page is 44 and the right page must be 45.
