Heidi, for some reason my textbook is stating that the answer for the soup can is 1141cm^2... How you explained it is right but I don't know why the answer is still 1141 cm^2

Heaven, I've reworked the problem 3 times and still get 275.7 cm^2. Sometimes textbook answers are wrong...not saying yours is, but still... Lets look at the math: an end is a circle, area - (3.14) (3.3 cm)^2 = 34.2 cm^2. Two ends brings the area of the ends to 68.4 cm^2. The column has area = [2(3.14)(3.3 cm)](10 cm) = 207.3 cm^2. Add together get 275.7 cm^2. May want to ask your teacher about this one.
