I'm going to assume that we are being asked to solve for x, and that HJ and JK are adjacent intervals on a number line. And I'll assume that KH means the same thing as HK, the union of HJ and JK.
Then our overall equation is HJ + JK = HK, or
5x - 4 + 5x - 10 = 38
10x -14 = 38
10x = 52
x = 5.2
Also,
HJ = 5*5.2 - 4 = 22
JK = 5*5.2 - 10 = 16
