This helps if you graph it or picture it. Suppose you have a stick of length 8 that can spin around its midpoint (it's basically a propeller). You can put it in a bunch of different positions--this represents the different possible segments. In fact, if you think about it, you can put that propeller in an infinite number of positions.
That's the answer to the question: there are an infinite number of segments that match that description.
