Hi Jacob,
I'm sure you,ve heard your teacher say - Use permutations when order matters. Let's look at the possibilities
Figuring out how many different ways you can arrange your collection of 57 blu-ray movies.
Since each arrangement will be different order matters, so this uses permutations
Choosing a captain and co-captain from the members of a varsity cheer squad.
Order matters here too. Once you pick a captain, s/he can't also be the co-captain
Calculating how many different ways a president and Vice President could be elected from the student council members.
Same thinking here, order still matters
Giving ribbons to all of the finishers of a half marathon race.
No permutations here. Everyone gets a ribbon regardless of order
Grouping all your horror movies together in your DVD collection.
No mention of grouping in any order among the horror movies. No permutations
Organizing your closet by color
Same as horror movies - no ordering of clothes within colors No permutations
