Geometry: Sphere

A sphere of radius 5cm and a cone of base radius 5cm and height 10cm rests on a

horizontal table surface. A horizontal plane 3 cm above the surface cuts both solids.

Find the radius of the circular cross-section of both the sphere and the cone.

If points A and B are the endpoints of a diameter of a small circle, find the distance from A to B on a great circle which passes through A and B.

Please show workings :)

enlarge it to full screen to see it (icon in lower right hand corner, if it looks fuzzy shrink it down and enlarge it again, for some reason, when i reviewed, it came in sharply in focus and large the SECOND time I enlarged it to full screen)

errata: triangle ADC should be triangle ADE in the section on the cone.

Also, If Fuzzy, try the gear icon at the bottom towards the right and turn up the resolution quality as high as it will go when enlarging.
