What is the volume of a cube if the area of one face of the cube is 36m^2.    (^2=squared)

A cube is 6 squares.  If the area of one face of the cube is 36m², then we can find what the length of one side would be.

 

A = a²  ; This is the formula for the area of a square.  Substitute the known value and solve for the unknown.

36m² = a² : Take the square root of both sides

√(36m²) = √a²

6m = a

 

The volume of a cube formula is :

V = a³

Now you have a = 6m, so:

V = (6m)³

V = 216m³
