I am a big fan of cognitive restructuring. In addition to breathing techniques, developing a mental refuge, and practicing a calm body and mind routine, cognitive restructuring can do wonders over time. First, you have to calm down and take control over the situation. Then you need to understand where your negative feelings come from (awareness), analyze them (knowledge), argue pros and cons (logic), and gradually come to a balanced conclusion (rationalization). Eventually, you will be able to accept your new reality (e.g. "I am a great speaker" or "My audience will love my presentation") and maintain this new reality through positive reinforcement/ positive experiences. Finally, you will be able to "reframe" your behavior and affect long-lasting change.
