Hello there! I'm assuming you are talking about middle school, and if so here are some topic ideas:
- Respect: Yourself, Others, the world around us
- Listening: We all want to be heard!
- Be kind: Think Kind, Speak Kind, Be Kind
- Confidence: have the kids stand and pose as super heros. (Gestures drive a point home and can actually help change attitudes)
- Beauty: Build an appreciation of beauty. Ask the kids what they think is beautiful. Or show pictures of nature and people and have them raise their hands when they think something is beautiful.
- Leadership: Be the first to stand up!
- Recycling
- Use your talents
- Friendship: what does it mean
- Saying sorry; forgiving others
- Bullying
- Posture
- Facial expressions - what you can say without words
- Sharing
- Cultures around the world
- Pets
- Memories: Good memories can help build confidence and motivate!
- What's most important to you: 5 things /people you would bring if you were stuck on a desert island
- Time: How do you use it. (Use a different color for each activity... what colors do you want in your life?)
- When you die, what do you want to be known for?
Other Ideas:
- Give a challenge each week
- Always be interactive in some way: Questions, song, gestures.
- Guest speakers: Firemen, Zookeeper, nurse... anything!
- Have your oldest grade level do skits or songs to drive home point.
- Commission Oldest grade level in the school to give a two min Assembly speech on something they care about, or something they think is important for life. the best one can actually give the speech.
Theses are just a few starter ideas. If you have a more specific questions or you want resources, write another question!
