I suggest you become willing to try changing the outlook of the required public address class. First, tell your mind this is an opportunity, not a punishment. By changing the description, the word, in your mind, your attitude begins to change. I suggest saying the word, “opportunity”, in your mind, ten, twenty, thirty times a day.
Then, you will start to look as the class as an opportunity to communicate your ideas, opinions, etc. to other people. You are going to learn how to help other people with your communication skills. Yes, at times it is scary, but think of all the people you will help! Try to get out of yourself.
Finally, start being aware of speakers that capture your attention. How do they speak. What do they wear? Do they repeat their concepts 3 times in 3 different ways? If they are on a panel or interview, do they pause and listen? By being observant of them, you will learn many skills.
