Two equations and two unknowns
A + B = 2178 feet
A - B = 10 feet
Solve for A (or B) in one of the two equations and plug it into the other. For example,
A - B = 10
A = 10 + B
So A + B = 2178
(10 + B) + B = 2178
10 + 2B = 2178
2B = 2178 - 10 = 2168
B = 2168/2 = 1084
Carrier A = 1094 feet
Carrier B = 1084 feet
If Carrier A = 1094 feet and there are 3 feet per yard,
(1094 ft)(1 yd/3 ft)(1 football field/100 yds) = 3.65 football fields
So Carrier A is 3.65 football fields long.
