There is no passing or failing grade on the SAT. The test is used by colleges to get a standardized way of comparing students. The difficulty of classes can fluctuate a lot from school to school, so the SAT allows comparison across schools. High schools do not typically require a certain score to graduate. In fact, most high schools do not even require students to take the SAT at all.
