I don't seem to understand where (0.3*103) comes from, but I agree with the final result.
Essentially, we have 2000 + 300 = 2300 = 2.3 *1000 = 2.3*103

(2.0*10^3) + (3.0*10^2) = (0.30* 10^3)= 2.3 *10^3 . How did they get 0.30 *10 ^3 from 3.0*10^3
