Would it better to video tape yourself preparing for a speech, or watch the video first silently, then the voice recoding only and why?

Actually, I used to teach college Comm 105 and we had a lot of success where you gave your speech to yourself in the mirror. This may seem weird or awkward at first but it really helps work out all the kinks and stuttering you may have to ensure a perfectly well executed speech! NO NOTES at the podium or practicing!
