to find the SS, you need to find the mean of the data set, which is adding all of the number and dividing by how many number you have. So it will be :(10+4+7+3)/4 which gives 6. then you need to subtract every value from the mean, like this 10-6 = 4, 4-6= -2, 7-6= 1, 3-6= -3, Then we will square them to make them positive so, 4^2 = 16, (-2)^2=4, 1^2=1 and (-3)^2=9. The SS is the sum of all of the differences, so add them all up. SS= 30. the variance is the SS/(n-1) so variance is 30/(4-1) = 10. Finally, the standard deviation is the square root of the variance so standard deviation is sqrt(10)= 3.162 rounded to three decimal places.

Using the definitional formula, compute SS for the following population and then find the population variance and the standard deviation. Show your work (i.e., write all computational steps).
Population scores (X): 10, 4, 7, 3
