My understanding of the problem is that the shipment is 14 total pallets. Of those, four pallets are smaller with only 52 cases.

So I would look at the same problem as 14(84) - 4(84-52) = cases

{the above equation takes all of the pallets and subtracts the amount missing from the 4 smaller pallets}

Or I would use my alternate method wish is to do (14-4)*84 + (4*52)

{this method finds the number of pallets that contain 84 cases and adds it to the number of cases from the problem which has 52 cases}

Both methods will give you the same number of cases.

I calculated that there are 1048 cases of chicken.
