What is the difference between subvolcanic rocks and plutonic rocks?

I'm studying Plutonic (Intrusive) rocks and i really dont understand the difference between PLutonic Rocks that form in Sills and Dikes from the so called subvolcanic rocks, also known as a hypabyssal rocks. Aren't they the same?. Why ?

So technically subvolcanic or hypabyssal rocks are intrusive rocks as well. They are just very shallow intrusive rocks, <2 km in depth at time of emplacement. They will often display intermediate grains sizes and be porphyritic. So in a way they will have characteristics of both plutonic and volcanic rocks.
